Sin la solidaridad, las victorias que celebramos hoy no habrían sido posibles

Intensos días de alegría vive nuestro pueblo por el regreso a la patria de
Gerardo, Ramón y Antonio y los pasos anunciados para el restablecimiento de las
relaciones con EEUU. Este regocijo lo comparten los incontables artistas,
científicos, intelectuales y luchadores sociales vinculados a la Red En defensa de la Humanidad de todo el mundo, que han batallado sin descanso  a favor de la liberación de los Cinco y por el fin del  inhumano acoso estadounidense que hemos sufrido durante más de cinco décadas. Ninguna  acción de las realizadas ha sido en vano.
Este resultado es fruto de la movilización colectiva, la lealtad, la perseverancia y el amor sin límites de personas de todas las latitudes. Sin la solidaridad de estos amigos y amigas las victorias que celebramos hoy no habrían sido posibles.
Al igual que Fidel no abandonó entonces al expedicionario del yate Granma que
cayera al mar durante su travesía -como dijera  Antonio Guerrero-,  en estas
horas de júbilo nos enorgullece la firme y meridiana voluntad de nuestro
gobierno de no dejar en ningún momento a un lado el destino de estos cinco
compatriotas, dos de los cuales habían regresado antes, colocando esta causa en
el mismo centro de cualquier acuerdo entre Cuba y los Estados Unidos.
No obstante estos logros y los pasos que pudieran darse para normalizar las
relaciones, como expresó el pasado 20 de diciembre en la Asamblea Nacional del
Poder Popular el Presidente Raúl Castro, queda por resolver lo esencial “el cese
del bloqueo económico, comercial y financiero contra Cuba”, el cual, recalcó,
será “una lucha larga y difícil” donde el apoyo  internacional continuará
desempeñando un importante papel.
En estos días de júbilo y victoria, reiteramos la gratitud del pueblo cubano a
los hermanos y hermanas de la Red En defensa de la Humanidad y la certeza de que
seguiremos unidos en esta y otras batallas por la independencia, la soberanía,
la paz, la justicia y la libertad de todos los pueblos del mundo y de todas las
personas que, ahora mismo, sufren injustas condenas en cualquier cárcel del
planeta.

Without solidarity, the victories we celebrate today would not have been possible


From Cuba to all our friends that are part of the Network In Defense of Humanity
Our people have been living very intense days of joy with the return of Gerardo,
Ramón and Antonio, and the steps announced for the re-establishment of relations
with the US. This joy is shared by countless artists, intellectuals and social
activists linked to the Network In Defense of Humanity worldwide who have
battled relentlessly for the release of the Five, and the end of the inhuman US
persecution that we have suffered for over five decades. No action has been
taken in vain.
This was the result of a collective mobilization and the loyalty, perseverance
and love without limits of people from all latitudes. Without the solidarity of
these friends the victories we celebrate today would not have been possible.
The same way Fidel did not abandoned the expeditionary of the Granma yacht when
he fell into the sea during their journey - as Antonio Guerrero mention- ¨at
this time of joy we are proud of the firm and notorious will of our government
that never put aside the fate of these five compatriots¨, two of whom had
returned before the agreement between Cuba and the United States.
Despite these achievements and the steps that could be taken to normalize
relations, as expressed last December 20th in the National Assembly of People's
Power by President Raul Castro, the essential needs to be resolve left
unresolved "an end the economic, commercial and financial embargo against Cuba,
"which he stress, " it will be a long and difficult struggle¨ where
international support will continue to play an important role.
In these days of joy and victory, we reiterate the gratitude of the Cuban people
to the brothers and sisters of the Network in Defense of Humanity with the
conviction that we will continue united in this and other battles for the
independence, sovereignty, peace, justice and freedom for all the peoples of the
world and also for the people that suffer unjust sentences in any prison in the
planet.
